Aimée Sommerfelt – en barnelitterær pioner
dc.typebook
oapen.abstract.otherlanguageAimée Sommerfelt – a Pioneer in Children's Literature is a scholarly review of the work of Aimée Sommerfelt (1892–1975). Sommerfelt was one of the most popular writers of children's and young adult literature of the post-war period. Best known for The Road to Agra (1959), she was one of the first to write for children and young adults on topics such as anti-Semitism, the Holocaust, immigration and "gypsies". Yet despite her oeuvre's significance and impact, it has not been the object of scholarly investigation until now. The contributors to this anthology explore Sommerfelt's key works in various genres, and the book contains both expository and scientific research chapters. In addition to analyzing Sommerfelt's rich writings, on a more general level the book contributes to broader discussions about how to talk and write about children's literature from a past era. The book is aimed at literary scholars, students and teachers, and anyone with an intesest in children's literature and literary history.
