        Abstract
Intermediate Stops – Communication with Refugees takes a look at situations where refugees come into contact with others at various stages of their journey. For understanding and being understood, the presence of interpreters is often essential. This volume brings together voices from practice as well as from research and teaching. The personal experiences and academic contributions illuminate the challenges and opportunities of communication in humanitarian contexts. The focus is on community interpreting, crisis and administrative communication, legal aspects, and repeatedly the question: How can interpreter training prepare for the demands in this field? The book is aimed at students, interpreters, educators, researchers, and anyone who wants to gain insight into this socially relevant topic.
