        Abstract
Linguistic and cultural diversity in Austrian schools has increased in recent years. In this context, the training of teachers plays a central role in meeting the challenges of new, heterogeneous teaching and learning environments. To mark the tenth anniversary of the Center for Language Education in the Context of Migration and Multilingualism (BIMM), this anthology takes a critical look back at past developments and outlines future prospects for quality development. The articles in this volume examine effective and sustainable qualification and professionalization formats for teachers, proven methodological and didactic concepts and necessary further developments in teacher training in order to ensure barrier-free and non-discriminatory language education in schools and universities.
