        Abstract
Double codification as a literary and hermeneutic strategy has recently become a major topic in scholarship on Luke-Acts. This volume explores this strategy in selected texts from Luke's gospel and Acts. The focus lies on several aspects of these texts: the religio-historical process of “blending” Jewish and Greco-Roman ideas; the integration of double-coded units into the narrative sequence in Luke-Acts; and insights from literary and theater studies and emotion research. The contributors to the volume examine which approaches and descriptive models can be combined with double codification. Several additional contributions test the idea of double codification on other New Testament writings and explore the limits of the approach.
